There’s a new shoe brand coming to River & Trail Outdoor Co. and we are very excited about it. Topo Athletic will be hitting our shelves in April 2025! Maybe you’ve already heard of them? They’ve been growing fast over the past decade as more runners catch on to their comfort and performance. If you haven’t heard of Topo Athletic, let’s talk about why we think you’ll love them.
Topo Athletic was launched in 2013 and built on 30 years of running experience. They are a beloved running brand because the people designing them are runners too. Similar to our philosophy at River & Trail, Topo Athletic are shoes built for beginners, running enthusiasts and running experts alike.
Topo Athletic shoes come with their signature ‘Topo Difference’ which is all about their fit. They make shoes that fit our feet. Sounds simple because it is! By offering a wide toe box, secure midfoot and heel, and a low heel to toe drop, they’ve designed shoes that encourage natural movement. Topo Athletic is always pushing boundaries and striving to design shoes that just make sense for running and hiking. They refuse to accept anything less than footwear that supports natural running strides. In their words, they’ve combined “modern comfort and performance features to amplify your body’s natural abilities.”
Here’s a look at what is arriving at River & Trail in April.
Phantom 3
The Phantom 3 is perfect for go-long daily kilometres and comfortable enough for all-day wear. This is a high-cushion trainer that delivers a soft, light and responsive ride. The upper is designed with an engineered mesh made of 30% recycled materials. Their two-piece midsole features their new and improved ZipFoam™ formula which offers a soft step in feel right below the foot, with a firm and stable ride against the ground.
MTN Racer 3
This is THE shoe for technical trails. The MTN Racer 3 features a 33x28mm platform for a cushioned run and protection underfoot, with a toe sweep designed for fast transitions. The midsole includes their new ZipFoam™ formula for the perfect balance between soft cushioning and snappy response, while the Vibram® Megagrip outsole delivers serious traction and grip when the trails get gritty.
Terraventure 4
The Terraventure 4 is their trail running workhorse that’s also great as a light hiker. It perfectly combines a fast and nimble ride with rugged protection, so nothing on the trail gets in your way. It’s equipped with a moderately cushioned platform, forefoot rock plate, and Vibram® Megagrip outsole. The Terraventure 4 is built to keep you feeling confident and moving freely on the toughest of trails.
