The original inspiration for the company hit when founder, Patrick Kruse “observe[d] his friend struggling to give her dog a drink using a plastic bag.” The initial prototype that came from that scenario kickstarted their momentum and is still one their well loved products today: the Quencher bowl.

Over the years, Ruffwear has continued to expand their product line. Recycled materials have always been utilized for their packaging; and they've been steadily working to remove PFAS from their products. The company also supports animal welfare organizations and working dogs including those accompanying search and rescue teams.
